Donald Trump Says Black People Will Like Him More Than Obama

Donald Trump has never let Barack Obama live. The presidential candidate once launched a campaign questioning Obama’s American citizenship and has attacked his leadership since he took office in 2008.

Trump went for his biggest reach Sunday during an interview with Fox News’ Media Buzz, proclaiming that African-Americans are “going to like me better than they do Obama.”

He continued, “The truth is Obama has done nothing for them.”

If nothing means founding the My Brothers Keeper Initiative to help the quality of life of young Black and Latino boys or launching a commitment to advance the lives of women and girls of color or calling out the racial disparities of incarceration rates between people of color and whites, then we guess Trump is right.

During the interview, Fox News host Howard Kurtz asked Trump to reiterate, “So you’re saying, African-Americans are going to like you better than the first African-American president?”

Trump responded, “I mean he does have a slight advantage, in all fairness. I think relatively speaking, when I’m finished, they will absolutely love Donald Trump.”

Trump went more in-depth about why he’s the best choice for Black voters in America. “The African-Americans love me because they know I’m going to bring back jobs,” Trump said.

“Look at what happened as an example with African-American youth. 54 percent, 58 percent — they don’t even know it’s so high — they can’t get jobs. Look at African-American people in their prime. 30s, 40s and 50s. Look at their unemployment rate. They want jobs,” he continued.
Trump has been trying to rally support from African-Americans, having met with several Black pastors last year. He recently gained support from the National Black Republican Association, who called him the best candidate to “free Black communities,” according to WAPT.
