Julius Yego might ditch Kenya for Qatar if they are willing to cough a whooping Ksh.1billion.Yego who won gold in the Javelin sport in the just concluded IAAF World Championships put Kenya on the map and contributed to Kenya being the overall winner in the same.
His career is now at its peak after sailing a Javelin throw of 92.72 metres which is four metres shy of the World Record of 98.48 held by one Jan Zelezny.
Sources reveal that Qatar officials were spotted in his room shortly after he won the gold medal to try convince him agree to that offer.Yego reportedly declined the offer owing to his patriotism. After the decline,they suggested he should take time to think about it and gave him a number to contact in case he changes his mind.
Qatar however is known for poaching talented sports men and women from different nations,and the last one they tried poaching from Kenya was Dennis Oliech who turned them down.The news of Qatar seeking to switch his citizenship is a blow to the Kenyan athletics team and we are hoping the concerned authorities would step up and vow to support him fully before he makes that crucial decision.
